On January 11th, the National Weather Service announced that a tornado had struck Calaveras County early in the morning.
Warnings have been issued for several areas in Kentucky and Mississippi, including Williamstown, Corinth, Mason, Prentiss, Bassfield, Lucas, Richmond, Nicholasville, and Wilmore.
The NWS has warned that the storm poses a threat of gusty winds, hail, and potential damage. Additionally, the storm is expected to bring between half an inch and one inch of rainfall and will be followed by a cold front which will bring low temperatures.
It was earlier reported that an EF-1 tornado had touched down about 6 miles northeast of Milton and that a line of severe thunderstorms had moved across the Northern San Joaquin Valley and into the Sierra Foothills, which may have produced the tornado and caused “straight-line wind damage” in Stanislaus County.
