The singer reportedly made the confession while holding a glass of wine during her final show of the first run of her residency on Saturday night. Adele reminisced about the time when she and others were at home in 2020, during the Covid lockdown, and said that they were all drunk most of the time. She specifically mentioned that it was 11am when she had already consumed four bottles of wine.
Adele reportedly said during her Las Vegas performance, “I remember when I came here in Covid, in lockdown, it was 11am and I was definitely like four bottles of wine in — like we all were. I said in 2020 that I wanted to put my album out. And we were all at home just drunk basically.”
In a 2021 interview with Oprah Winfrey, Adele, who is known for her song “I Drink Wine,” revealed that she had quit drinking after losing her estranged father to bowel cancer. She also mentioned that she had dropped seven stone after giving up alcohol entirely. According to Adele, drinking water and being sober can help one get to know themselves better.
During her final Las Vegas show over the weekend, Adele made a surprising announcement that she would be extending her residency with an additional 34 shows scheduled until November. This delighted her fans.
The London-born artist, Adele, gave credit to her Las Vegas residency for revitalizing her. As reported by The Sun, she expressed feeling secure in the residency and spoke about her preference for a simple life. Adele mentioned that her life used to be more extensive when she was younger but as her career grew, she became more anxious and fearful. She spends time with her dogs, son, boyfriend, and housekeeper, and relishes her time in Las Vegas on Fridays and Saturdays where it feels like a night out with friends, bringing her back to life.
Adele also announced the extension of her residency, stating that playing for 4,000 people for 34 nights was not enough, and expressed her desire to come back. Additionally, she informed the audience about an upcoming concert film of her residency.
