Victor Osimhen, a 24-year-old football player, has been playing excellently for Napoli in the Serie A this season. He has scored an impressive 23 goals in 28 appearances so far and continued his great performance by scoring twice in Napoli’s 3-0 win over Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Wednesday evening. Manchester United is seeking to sign a new striker this summer and is reportedly considering Osimhen along with Harry Kane.
When asked specifically about Manchester United’s interest, Osimhen stated that he was unsure what the future held for him. He added that he believed he was on the right track and that he would sit down with his agents and discuss his options at the end of the season. He also said that he would be in talks with Napoli, the club he currently plays for, and that they would work together to find a good solution.
Despite Manchester United’s interest, Napoli remains in a strong negotiating position as Osimhen has over two years remaining on his contract. It’s understood that Napoli will demand in excess of €100 million (£88m) for Osimhen’s transfer this summer.
Speaking before Napoli’s win over Frankfurt in the Champions League, Napoli’s sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli emphasized that discussions over Osimhen’s future would not take place until the season is finished. He added that the club had other priorities at the moment and that they would deepen discussions in the summer.
Giuntoli also stated that Osimhen was one of three young players at Napoli who still had many years left on their contracts. He said that there was no need to talk about their future at the moment but added that Napoli was a strong team and would continue to be so in the future.
