Pelé won the FIFA World Cup three times with the Brazilian national team, in 1958, 1962, and 1970. 

Pelé was the all-time leading scorer in the World Cup, with 12 goals in four tournaments. 

Pelé has also achieved success off the field, including being named a United Nations ambassador for ecology and the environment 

Pelé has also received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama in 2011
